Tips for Cleaning and Organising Your Car Interior

A car that’s clean inside and out has a completely different feel from a car that’s unorganised and dirty. Even the most expensive cars can look messy and shabby if they’re not cleaned on a regular basis. In this article, we have some tips for organising and cleaning your car interior.

Clean on a regular basis

Mess, dirt and debris can soon build up over a few weeks; even dust can settle within a few days. Therefore it's important to clean regularly if you want your car's interior to look great. Set aside some time once a week to go through and clean your car quickly; you can then do a more thorough cleaning once a month. This schedule should stop your car from becoming too messy and dirty. However, if you have children or pets, then you may need to clean up more regularly to keep things dirt and mess-free.

Keep wipes in your car

Wipes are really useful for cleaning up unexpected messes that can happen inside a car. If you have wipes on hand, you can quickly clean areas without too much effort. They can also be used to clean your hands or your children’s hands if they are sticky or messy. Doing this before they get in the car will stop the mess from being spread around too much. Even if you don’t eat or have children or pets, wipes can be used to quickly clean the dash or areas which attract mud near the doors.

Swap shoes before driving

If your shoes are muddy and dirty, you’re going to transfer all of that mud and mess into your footwell and on the pedals of your car. This can be challenging to clean and could even be dangerous if your pedals become slippery or wet. A good way to prevent this is to swap your shoes before you drive your car. Keep a bag or shoe box in the boot where you can place your dirty shoes, and make sure you have clean ones to put on when you’re driving. This preventative measure will reduce how much you need to clean.

Buy a car detailing kit

There are lots of small spaces inside the interior of your car that attract dirt and dust. The best way to clean these out is to use a detailing kit. This will have all of the special tools needed to get to all the small spaces that need to be cleaned. Before using the detailing kit, remove everything from your car; this will prevent the dirt from landing on other things. Quick release steering wheels can be useful in this situation to allow you to get closer to the dashboard and clean things like the vents that sit behind the steering wheel. After you’ve used the detailing kit, you’ll need to go over the car again with a vacuum cleaner to remove all the dirt that you’ve dislodged.

Get a car organiser

If your car doesn’t have much space to store the things you need, you can buy a car organiser. This can go on the back of your seat or in the boot; it will give you lots of space and different compartments where you can store all of the things you need. Keeping things organised will stop the mess inside your car and can prevent things from going missing. Car organisers that go on the back of the front two seats can be great for storing things for children. They can easily access their toys or drinks and keep themselves entertained when they’re on a long car journey.

By following the tips in this article, you can keep your car interior clean and organised. Regular cleaning will help to prevent dirt and debris from building up, and keeping wipes and a car detailing kit in your car will make it easy to clean up messes as they happen. By swapping your shoes before driving and using a car organiser, you can also help to keep your car clean and free of clutter. With a little effort, you can keep your car interior looking great and smelling fresh for you and all of your passengers.
